Welcome to South Shore Insight Meditation Center

Insight Meditation (Vipassana): Weekly classes, scheduled retreats and special programs, all on the South Shore of Boston. Our new home location is 1130 Washington Street (Rt. 53,  ex.#13 off Rt. 3) in Hanover MA

Below are our current events, which currently include weekly classes and a retreat. You are welcome to join classes at any point and may register online below. If this is your first class or event we encourage you to R.S.V.P. You can also drop in on any night, although some classes are designed to be taken as a series.

Mindful Mondays & More - Scheduled Mondays starting Sept 8, 7:00 to 8:45pm

With Madeline Klyne and/or Paul Cheevers | Join us for a day of sitting and walking meditation in the Insight Meditation tradition. Retreats provide an opportunity to develop serenity and insight through a series of sitting and walking meditation periods. Short Dharma talks, Q&A and a closing Metta meditation round out the day. *On this date the retreat is a Full-Day and runs from 9am to 4pm, a light lunch will be available. On all other retreat days the retreat ends at 1pm and refreshments are offered.

Discovering Insight Nights - Wednesdays, Sept 3 - Dec 10 (not meeting 11/26), 7:00 to 8:30pm

With Madeline Klyne & Paul Cheevers | This weekly class includes basic Insight Meditation instructions and a brief guided movement period along with some time for group connecting and refreshment. This class series is geared toward Beginners and those with Beginner’s mind. This series will incorporate the Four Foundations of Mindfulness or the Four ways to be present. This class will include a take-away mindfulness exercise that can be practiced in your daily life. Special guest teachers may offer a teaching on various weeks.

Sitting Together: Essential Skills for Mindfulness Based Psychotherapy - Saturday, October 18, 10am to 4:30pm
LOCATION: SSIMC Home Location: 1130 Washington Street, Hanover MA 02339
With Susan M. Pollak & Tom Pedulla | Today, more and more psychotherapists and their patients are interested in bringing the power of mindfulness into their clinical work. But how does one actually do that? This workshop shows the way. Drawing from their own clinical experience, as well as from their new book, the workshop leaders will introduce a variety of mindfulness practices that clinicians and their clients can use to develop the core skills of concentration, open monitoring, and compassionate acceptance. The day will include teaching, experiential exercises, and discussion. This program is appropriate for anyone with an interest in the integration of meditation and psychotherapy. Mental health professionals can earn 5 CE credits.

Susan M. Pollak, MTS, EdD, is a psychologist, a clinical instructor in psychology at Harvard Medical School, and the president of the Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy. She is also co-author of Sitting Together: Essential Skills for Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapy.

Thomas Pedulla, LICSW, is a psychotherapist, a former board member at CIMC, and a faculty and board member at the Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy. He is also co-author of Sitting Together: Essential Skills for Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapy.
